I’m Travis Wilson
I’m a pastor in the ELCA, and I spend a lot of time sitting with people who are trying to make sense of faith again—sometimes after disappointment, sometimes after exhaustion, sometimes simply after life has changed faster than the answers they were given.
Faith, Upgraded is my public writing space for that kind of conversation.
Not polished answers. Not spiritual performance. Just honest reflection about what it means to believe, to question, and to keep going when certainty no longer feels like the center of the story.
What This Space Is
This is a place for:
- thoughtful faith that can hold questions without fear
- spiritual reflection rooted in real life, not abstraction
- conversations about doubt, meaning, and rebuilding trust
- attention to accessibility, dignity, and belonging in spiritual spaces
- curiosity about what faith might look like in a changing world
Some of this is deeply personal. Some of it is pastoral. All of it is written with care.
What This Space is NOT
This is not a place for:
- pressure to believe the “right” way
- spiritual shortcuts or easy certainty
- fear-based faith or performative certainty
- exclusion dressed up as truth
- conversations that ask people to shrink their questions in order to belong
There’s room here for honesty. That includes disagreement, uncertainty, and slow rebuilding.
Why This Exists
Over time, I’ve noticed something I can’t ignore.
Many people aren’t walking away from faith because they lack interest in spirituality. They’re stepping back because the versions they’ve encountered didn’t leave enough room for their lived experience.
This space exists because I believe faith can still be spacious enough for real life.
Not perfect life. Not resolved life. Real life.
